  The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department is excited about hosting the final fun night of Bingo at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center for this winter season.  This Sunday, March 18th, the center will turn in to a bingo hall from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and the cool thing is it is free!  That’s right because of the overwhelming sponsorship, everyone can come out and have a great time and it won’t cost a penny.

  Public event March 25 The Benton County Women’s Oral History Committee and the Vinton Public Library received donations late last month partially funding digitization of life stories of some of the ten women who were interviewed in the 1980s. One donation, from the Louise Gilchrist Charitable Trust, will fund individual stories as it is matched by other donations.

    Virginia Gay Hospital’s Diabetes Education Program is offering two Annual Refresher classes for those with Diabetes. On Thursday, March 22, “Home Blood Glucose Monitoring-What Do I Do With The Results?” and “Staying Healthy for the Long Haul-Long Term Complications.” On Thursday, March 29, “Healthy Eating for Diabetes-How Am I Doing?”  Physician referral required for insurance coverage.

  At its March 1 meeting the Center Point Friends of the Library brooded over plans for an Easter Bookfair at Barnes & Noble in Cedar Rapids and the annual spring Poetry Gala at the Library to scratch up some more funds for Library programming and expansion. The Barnes & Noble Bookfair will be from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 31.

  PEO Chapter HG will meet Monday, March 12th at         7:30 p.m. at the home of Kathie Ervin. Roxanne         Ervin will be the co-hostess.

  The Better Tomorrows Board will be meeting on March 7th at the Tama county ISU Extension Office at 12:00 p.m.  Topics of discussion will be appointing Co-Directors; Funding Sub-committee Recommendations; Fiscal Agent Agreement; Co-Director job description and duties; organizational chart; 501©3; 28E agreement; Board Professional Development Plan, Board Self-Evaluation and Liability Insurance Options.

PEO Chapter MZ will meet at 1:30 PM on Monday, March 12, at the home of Joan Hyde for election and installation of officers.  The program will be presented by Kae. Santman.
